Post 5: Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

Image
Sigmund Freud (6 May 1856 - 23 September 1939) was an Austrian neurologist of Jewish origin. He is considered the Father of Psychoanalysis. In Vienna he worked with Josef Breuer, who sought to cure hysteria through the so-called "cathartic method", which consisted of inducing the patient into a hypnotic state so that she could remember the events prior to the disease. Based on this technique Freud developed a model of the mind made up of three elements: "the id", "the ego" and "the super ego". "The id" corresponds to the biological instinct to survive, responding to the pleasure principle. "The ego" seeks to satisfy the demands of the id in social acceptance; it develops in childhood. "The super ego" is the part that seeks to respect socially acceptable moral principles. Freud is my favourite psychologist because despite the criticism and outdated theories he was the first to pose the unconscious mind as a place wher...

Post 4: A Photography you like

Image
I took this photography around five years ago   when my new guinea pigs arrived at my house, they had only one month to live; the picture shows the female on the left and the male on the right. I called the female Artemis and the male Atlas, because at that time I was a fan of Greek culture and I don´t have much imagination to name my pets. That day my brother gave them to me when he found me very depressed because a breakup I had with my girlfriend, so it was a therapy for me. During that period they were both the size of my hand and everything scared them, even the food I gave them, but in just one year they were the size of an adult guinea pig. I love my pets and this photo, because they have accompanied me at all times: Christmas, birthdays, study nights and in most of the sad and happy moments.

Post 3: My favorite piece of technology

Image
Good night to everyone. My favorite piece of technology is my PlayStation 3 (PS3) console, with which I can play the best video game list of all time, in my opinion; I can also watch movies, series (Futurama is my favorite) and concerts. I bought my console more than ten years ago and I never had the need to fix it, because in those days they were of better quality than today. I use it frequently in the nights or holidays to relax after studying or at the end of exams; on vacation I prefer to play with my friends online. What I like the most of my PS3 console is the extensive game list, which includes horror, action, suspense, RPG (role playing games), platform and adventure classics. I think that my life without my console would be good but a little boring, because with games you can know other places, incredible stories and wonderful people online, with your same preferences.

Post 2: Why did you choose this career/study programme?

Image
Hello everyone, in this post I want to talk about the reason I chose my career, and later my dream job. When I was a child I loved the video games, because I considered they were art; for that reason my dream job was to be a videogame designer. But in those times this career was not profitable. Other career options were medical technology and nursing, but I turned them down because I hate chemistry. In the end I chose psychology because I like to help people with their psychological and emotional problems. My experience in the university so far has been quiet, because I don’t like big parties or meetings very much; I have few but good friends there. I would like to work as a clinical psychologist to make a difference in the society. Thank you very much for reading me.

Post 1: My autobiography - Who am I?

Image
Good afternoon everyone, I am Yerko Sáez Navarrete and I was born in Santiago, Chile. At elementary school, I studied at Marvit School in El Bosque. Later, I completed my high school education at Instituto San Pablo Misionero in San Bernardo. I studied nurse technician at INACAP. I also obtained a specialization in cardiopulmonary resuscitation from Universidad San Sebastian in Santiago. But, for health and family reasons I quitted my job and I got ready for the PSU. I started to study Psychology in Universidad de Chile in 2019 at the faculty of social sciences. Currently, I am living in Maipú with my parents; my siblings live in San Miguel. My hobbits are the literature and video games, especially suspenseful ones.
